because SAT scores do not indicate a persons ability. why? because it can BE TAUGHT WITH MONEYYYY!!!!. any idiot could easily go buy a thousand prep books and score 2300+. the SAT is in no way an indicator of college success.

you'll see.... I have to compliment you on your thorough research.

Lol this is becoming more of an argument than a discussion.

I think that the bottom line is that skin color is important and that in my opinion it does definitely matter in determining ........................................................................................................................................................................What color your skin is!!!!!!!!!! That is the only thing.

Lol I thought this thread needed some humor.
Okay, I am done. Carry on with your bickering.

^it's a debate.....

discussion + arguing = debate

or maybe debate is just a euphemism for argument, ah well.......

youll see.........I 100% agree with you......S.A.T does not measure smarts at all...
I mean duh as longa s you can do s*** like process of elimination etc.; then your good so don't get your ego up if you get a 2300+

Then again; there are some dummys that can't even get high scores with 1000 S.A.T books

"because SAT scores do not indicate a persons ability. why? because it can BE TAUGHT WITH MONEYYYY!!!!. any idiot could easily go buy a thousand prep books and score 2300+. the SAT is in no way an indicator of college success."

YOU are the moron

essentially, you're saying that ALL blacks/hispanics are poor, which isn't true. i believe that it is alright to judge a student based on his or her family's financial status and on how they were brought up (poor/rich) but it is not okay with me to give URMs preference in admissions solely because of their RACE.

i wonder why u never respond to my points
do u tacitly agree that you're contradicting yourself and being illogical?

^ i just responded to your point....and proved it wrong....post 80 & 81

"because SAT scores do not indicate a persons ability. why? because it can BE TAUGHT WITH MONEYYYY!!!!"

So you favor looking at someone's socioeconomic status over their race, right?

you didn't prove it wrong idiot, all you did was insult all URMs by saying that they were all too poor to afford SAT prep. this is obviously not true and you're making broad generalizations which aren't true.

you're saying that admissions officers should look at a student's economic status which has nothing to do with race.

^ the two pretty much go hand in hand, let's face it. maybe not completely, but mostly, norcalguy

when and where did i talk about SAT?
you're not answering my point at all.
yet u try to call others ignorant, stupid, and moron?

"^ the two pretty much go hand in hand, let's face it. maybe not completely, but mostly."

how much more ignorant can you possibly be? are you saying that whites and asians aren't poor and that most URMs are?

and if the two go hand in hand, why dont we do AA based on social-econ status? that will include poor whites and orms and exclude rich urms.
What a great way to kill 10000 birds w/ one hand!! compared to the lousy and flawed system Harvard is using now!

PKswmr76, i'm saying that the URMs who benefit most from AA are the ones who have a lower socioeconomic status.

how about try responding to your contradictory of\
"you'll see,
you're completely contradicting yourself. yet u call others moron?

if urm =/= less able, why do we need AA in the first place to BOOST their chances?"

try responding lol.
and the social-econ status AA as well.

thank you

As a compromise, would you be willing to exchange race-based affirmative action for socioeconomic affirmative action?

After all, they "pretty much go hand in hand."

^ i already responded.....AA boost their chances b/c they have lower SAT scores, tha't why i talked about the SAT. my point (in simpler terms for you since you couldn't understand the longer passage): lower SAT scores does not indicate ability. just b/c urms scores lower does not mean that they are less able.

you'llsee, the URMs getting into HYP are from the upper middle class. They can all afford SAT prep. They are not from compton or harlem. The URMs who are having to dodge drug dealers all day or having to carry a gun for protection while they drop off their little sister to school aren't the ones getting into top schools.

fabizio, unfortunately yes. but i hope to someday get to a point where race and socioeconomic status have nothing to do with each other. but as of right now, that's not the case.

in case u haven't realize, you'll see,
urms going to hyp often have similar scores or perhaps a lil lower.
furthermore, scores dont have a direct correlation to admissions.
