new area codes?

for cell phones:
are you guys going to keep the area code that you currently have, or get a new number and plan with the area code of your college?

I'm keeping my area code, that way it won't be long distance for my parents and friends from home to call me. I'm moving 3000 miles from home, plus cell phone long distance is usually free so I'll be able to call friends from campus without a problem.

anyone else?
if i keep my current area code, my high school friends will be able to call me easier, and my parents won't have to call long distance, but everyone at college will have to call long distance if they're not using a cell phone.

LOL... That would suck.

:)

Lets all keep in mind the roaming charges that can occur if we don't have the right cell phone plan. It's killer when I see some of my friend's cell phone bills when we come home from a trip that's out of state. I will definitely be keeping the same cell phone number; I'll just keep the national plan, just check with your phone company.

id probably keep the same # but maybe change the phone, b/c i use verizon and their service is supposedly pretty good all around the country.

I switched to the area code of my new place because:

1) I have free calls to my family
2) I use email and AIM to talk to my friends
3) It's free after 9pm and on the weekends
4) If I want to make friends in my new area, I'd sure as hell better not be charging them long distance to contact me.

Worked so far!
