I’m kinda new to all these… So I was hoping we could get to meet ourselves and maybe start a discussion… Anyone in?
hi.i am from iran and i’m new too and i don’t know what could i do to be admitted.so all i know is that you have to get a good score in SAT or tofel and a good essay.
I finished the process of application last year, and now I am waiting the responses of my universities. For what people told me, it is extremely important to have a good score in either the SAT or ACT, and if you are an international applicant the TOEFL exam is important as well. However, this part of the process only works in order to let the universities know that the applicants are “intelligent” for their standards -we know that exams don’t measure the intelligence of a person; however, when a university is making a decision, they consider that all the people in a class should have the same level of education, so universities use those exams in order to measure that level-. Some universities, in special the most competitive ones, will reject you if you don’t have a good score whitout looking your profile. After the universities evaluate your scores, they evaluate your personal strengths, which you can show in your essay-personal statement. It is very important to have good recommendation letters, and volunteer activities in order to show the admission committee that you’re not only an intellectual, but also a kind of super human being who concerns himself with society. I will also suggest you being in contact with the university; show your counselor the interest you have by sending emails and asking questions. It is also important to read first the website before asking the questions; there is not anything more annoying that someone who asks a question which answer is in the website.
