I just saw this on Amazon:

Does anyone have information about this new edition that's coming out in August, or how it will differ from the current edition?

Looks like it’ll have 6 previously administered tests (as opposed to the current 3).

[The Official SAT Study Guide, 3rd Edition - The College Board - Google Books](The Official SAT Study Guide, 3rd Edition - The College Board - Google Books)

Lol, I’m psyched.

Is that sad? Anyways, it’s too bad it’s not coming out a little sooner, since it comes out the same week my summer break ends. Crunch time = August

Is the 1st edition of the BB as good as the 2nd? I know that there’s no writing section, but is it still the same for math & cr?

The 1st edition doesn’t have any actual SATs and it only has 8 practice tests. The 2nd edition has 3 actual SATs and a total of 10 practice tests. So the 2nd edition is much better.

7 of the tests in BB 1st edition are repeated in the BB 2nd Edition with DVD. In addition, the BB 2nd edition with DVD has a total of 11 tests(the 11th one is on the DVD), the test on the DVD is an actual test which is the same as January 2008 QAS). If I were a student, I would buy the 2nd Edition as opposed to the 1st Edition.

We don’t know what will be on the 3rd Edition BB. Here is my guess:

In summary, not a whole lot new. Just another strategy to boost revenue by making the older editions obsolete.

I actually called the Collegeboard store and asked this very question. After checking with his supervisor, the gentleman came back on the line and said that the new 3rd edition will not have any new tests. Only that they have “improved” some other aspects of the book. So, I immediately cancelled my pre-order!

This is so true. Older editions of textbooks and prep books are cheaper and really they contain about the same information.

I just found out that they have CANCELLED the new book. So, it looks like they are really serious about re-vamping the test just like they did 10 years ago. Very interesting!

It’s too bad they cancelled. The blue book is fantastic, but rather limited in the number of tests they have. Unlike the LSAT, which has like 60+ tests. You can buy the online test too (which has additional practice tests), but that’s $69.95.
