New Book: ADMISSION-A Novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz

I started reading this novel, and found it unreadable. I read a lot of books that are considered “beach reading,” but generally the prose is much stronger. The author is married to a major poet (Paul Muldoon) but use of language not rubbing off.
BTW, I am an Ivy League grad. and I TEACH.

I got this book from my library’s “new book” shelf 3 or 4 months ago. It was awful! It started out mediocre, and went downhill from there. The ending (yes, I read the whole thing) was completely unbelievable. I just wanted to slap the author!

The Gatekeepers was the first book I read on the whole Admissions process and I found it fascinating. I keep reading similar books in hopes of finding one as good but The Gatekeepers set a standard that will be hard to live up to.

BobbyCT, is Gatekeepers nonfiction? I’ve heard good things about it. I will look for it. Moonstone2, me too, and we’re both new to CC!
