New Cancer Research Center for SC and Grants Awarded

<p>The U.S. National Institute of Health has selected SC to establish a new 16 million dollar cancer research center. The center is one of 12 in the nation to receive the designation as a Physical Science Oncology Center. Two other universities named as part of the 12 are Johns Hopkins and MIT.</p>

<p>USC Receives Huge Grants</p>

<p>Keck School of Medicine haas been awarded 34 million in stimulus grants. Elizabeth Fine, Vice Dean for Research at Keck, expects the grants to increasse as additional applications are funded.</p>

<p>It was just announced Viterbi School of Engineering faculty has earned 23.6 million in grants as part ot the stimulus package.</p>

<p>Macular degeneration affects many seniors today. Physician-researchers at USC have received a nearly 16 million dollar grant to fund innovative research about this condition.</p>

<p>The phrase should have read “grants to increase” rather than increasse.</p>
