New CUNY information

Yesterday I called CUNY Queens College to ask why I had not received a decision since I applied early in the year and was told the following:

If you have been accepted to your #1 school there is a good possibility that your application will not be sent out to the rest of your choices.

If this is the case the only way to fix it is to
• Call the CUNY university center and have them change it, but this may rescind your application from the schools you have been accepted to.
• You can go straight to the school and speak to their admissions counselors where they may or may not be able to help you apply to their school.

Not true.

You can be accepted to more than one CUNY. However, each school makes their decision independently. Queens received a very large number of applications this year (to the point that they have asked some students to defer til spring 2014). They had a very small spring 2013 admissions.

I’m not saying for school specific. The admissions officer said that CUNY as a whole received a ginormous amount of applicants so some students will not hear back from multiple schools of they were accepted by their #1 I know that you can be accepted to more than one, but if you haven’t heard back from more than just your #1 that may be why.
