He will depart Vanderbilt at the end of the current academic year. Since Shain arrived at the university in 1998, the number of applications received annually has grown by more than 50 percent, the quality and diversity of the entering class has increased, and Vanderbilt’s appeal has extended into new geographic and demographic areas.”</p>

<p>As a Vandy parent, I just wanted to say that our experiences with Dean Shain were extremely positive! Vandy’s loss is Bowdoin’s gain!</p>
