New Era Of College Prestige

FOR ALL THOSE NUMBER JUNKIES OUT THERE, I HAVE COME UP WITH NEW TERM FOR NAMING THE BEST OF THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY BASED ON US NEWS WEEK WHICH WE ALL HAIL AS THE HOLY GRAIL OF LIFE
(please don't kill me)

PHYSICS

P:Princeton
H:Harvard
Y:Yale
S:Stanford
I:Institutes of Technology (CIT, MIT)
C: Columbia
s

i guess its convenient to put columbia there, but this pnemonic wont be taken seriously as long as columbia is there. there are other schools, equal/greater than columbia that you omitted.

actually, i see your going to columbia, so it think its perfectly fine to show school spirit

I prefer CHYMPS.

^Well, I don't think Columbia, MIT or Caltech belong their. In terms of prestige, HYPS are definitely a league above everything, so there's no need to add the IC....but still, after HYPS, the IC does come next...just a distant second.

Very well, I'll subtract Caltech and MIT from mine. Personally, I don't think this is much better...

SYPH

well only real problem is the S at the end...

Yea, I am showing Columbia spirit for now!

Columbia belongs...Columbia University Faculty have won many Nobel prizes in the last 10 years, e. g. Horst Stormer (Physics) Richard Axel (Medicine), Edmund Phelps (Economics), Joseph Stiglitz (economics-although he just came to Columbia), Orhan Pamuk (literature-new Faculty addition in SIPA), Eric Kandel (Medicine), William Vickrey (Economics-awarded 1996 now deceased), RObert Merton (SEAS grade-Economics 1997/I know this is not fair, but it's a recent one), RObert Mundell (Economics-1999), Richard Hamilton (foundation for Poincare Proof-over 40, but would have received Fields Medal otherwise with Pearlman), wow....Columbia University is def slipping...lol. What is wrong with playing of the fact that Columbia is located in NYC (the greatest city by an objective measure in the US and maybe, just maybe the world)? Part of the college experience is gaining real-world (read internship) knowledge while in college to apply to various fields. While it is true any IVY will allow one to be competitive for a Wall-Street position, most other industries require work experience prior to the entry level job, e.g. Journalism, TV, Marketing, Fashion, etc. Perhaps all students want to go to Wall Street? Also, the Columbia area has improved (due to gentrification) by leaps and bounds. The endowment investment returns have finally started growing competitive to Columbia's peer schools, e.g. 18% last year. Renovations to labs and facilities throughout campus etc...

SYD H. (Stanford Yale Duke Harvard)

I like the new acronym..it's practical as well. And it can trick people as well;)

NOOOO from now on we are using SYPH. That's amazing, it's short for syphilis. SYPH it is.

Ha, somebody came up with an even funkier one!! SYPH it is!! :D

except princeton sucks, so make it SYDH. Represent!

Nah, first of all Princeton does not suck to all, and it is just as good as Yale, etc.
So keep SYPH...it's great.

"Yea, I am showing Columbia spirit for now"

well then show your columbia spirit on the columbia board. we don't really care.

Lol, yes..
i concur with harvardbound123!! ;)

P:Princeton
