New Essay Topic

With the 2016 application coming out a few days ago, what are some of your thoughts on the new essay prompt?

The app is open and you can see the essay once you finish all entering all your background information. It’s pretty open-ended.

The essay topic is actually available on the [FSU Freshman Admissions Requirements Site](http://admissions.fsu.edu/freshman/requirements/), without having to start an application:

So the prompt is basically as generic and bland as you can get. Though it beats the one I had when I was a freshman applicant, which was basically “write about how Vires, Artes, Mores each play a roll in your life” or something,

I wish that for once FSU would get an interesting prompt, instead of the bland ones they seem to have every year. If there’s anything to like about this essay prompt, you can talk about you and the things that you enjoy, which can make it easier to write.

I still am on the fence about the essay as a whole. Unless you’re on the border of being accepted, admissions doesn’t even read it. While it’s important to not slap some crap together and call it your essay, you also shouldn’t freak out about the one part of the application that, more than likely, isn’t going to be read by anyone.
