New FA reporting requirements for ROTC Scholarships

<p>Just because many of you may not read the FA forum, I thought I'd put a link to the thread I started here to let you know that it looks like effective this year, you no longer are required to report your ROTC scholarship as an "outside scholarship" to your Financial Aid office. </p>

<p>This might result in a better award for you, as you may not lose eligibility for things like subsidized Staffords or even Pell Grants (if applicable).</p>

<p>Here is the link to the thread where I discuss how I found out about this. I just posted a link in that thread to a IFAP document that addresses this change to FA processing.</p>

<p>It is nice to see that they are treating this like the prepaid military benefit that it is.</p>

<p>Thanks for the information, I wrote to my son’s financial aid department and this was their response:</p>

<p>VA benefits, which are not ROTC awards, are not considered aid for federal purposes. I will double check to see if this is true for ROTC awards as well.</p>
