New General Education requirements for Class of 2018 and beyond

The College announced this today. Not too many details yet, but here is the link:
William & Mary - W&M faculty approve new general education curriculum

this could be really good…

but I’d like more details, like:

will this eliminate the ability to graduate in less than 4 years?

what will be the class line up? putting everyone into GERs will require many more of them, since you won’t get credit for AP/IB toward GERs

According to the article, this starts with the class entering fall 2015.

The GERs go away under the new curriculum and are replaced by classes with a “COLL” designation. Instead of seven GERs categories, students will have to take classes in three broader domains. Students will have more choices under the new system, but won’t be able to satisfy as many gen ed requirements with AP credits as at present. Whether it will make it harder to graduate early remains to be seen. A lot will depend on a student’s major, I expect.
