<p>I haven't been able to confirm this, so I thought I'd ask here.</p>
<p>I've heard from current students that JHU may be giving out grades to freshman (as opposed to pass/fail type grades) starting with the class of 2012. Can anyone confirm/deny this?</p>

<p>JHU freshmen have always received letter grades. You're thinking of the covered-grades policy, which puts a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory designation (in lieu of the actual grade received) on your transcript for all classes taken in the fall of your freshman year. </p>
<p>There was a recent thread discussing whether covered grades would be phased out, but I don't believe anything was confirmed. The administration may be considering the move, but I haven't heard anything definitive on campus. If someone had confirmed it, you can be sure that it would be all over these message boards.</p>

<p>I have not heard anything new on the potential change. One change that is going in to effect is that "Hopkins is taking back Fridays"

<p>Too bad about fridays, it was one of the few things that kept Hopkins unique... I used to think Hopkins enjoyed being different. :(</p>
