I have heard that this upcoming year, first semester freshman year grades will not be all pass/fail. Can anyone comment on the validity of this?

Unless you hear it straight from the school itself, don’t believe it. I think AdmissionsDaniel said recently that they have no intention of doing away with the policy in the next few years. So I don’t think they’re getting rid of it, at least not next year.

yeah im sure the student body would be aware of this by now if they were changing the policy for next year.

and it’s not pass/fail. it is satisfactory/unsatisfactory. you have to get a C i think for satisfactory.

I think there would be a big article in the papers and stuff if it were going away. I would presume it is staying.

The discussion about changing the first-semester covered grade policy began about two years ago. Since then Johns Hopkins has seen some major leadership changes at the top – a new President, two new Provosts, and a search for a new Dean of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.

I do expect the conversation about evaluating the first-semester covered grade policy will commence again soon, but as it stands right now there are no changes and no anticipated changes for the Class of 2014.
