Does anyone know if Bioengineering classes are held in the new ISEC building? Or does the building just hold research/lab spaces? My D took the engineering tour last summer, but I don’t think this impressive building was part of the tour (parents and students were separated).
TIA!
The bioengineering department is located in ISEC and the building has about a half dozen general classrooms. Although classes will likely be spread around campus. Once the pedestrian bridge is completed later this year ISEC may be on the tour.
@TomSrOfBoston many thanks for your reponse. We just happened upon some news about the ISEC and it is incredibly impressive. I’m hoping we can see it during Admitted Student Day.
No reason why you can’t drop by during Admitted Student Day. The building is open during the day and you can just walk in. I did when it first opened - cool lobby with nice chairs for kids to hang out in. Although certain buildings house a particular department, generally classes are held everywhere. The only exception would be a class that needs special equipment (a science lab, an architecture lab, etc.) In her 4 years as an econ math major my daughter had classes all over campus, which is typical.
@kiddie thanks. We’ll make sure to stop by in April. ISEC is so new, it isn’t yet on the virtual tour!
A bit of additional advice for admitted students day - especially if you are going to similar sessions at multiple schools … try to set up a quick meeting with a faculty member or even a TA with weekend office hours. Make sure you see the classrooms / labs for YOUR STUDENT’S discipline. If you have time - walk up and down Huntington Ave for a couple of blocks to get a feeling for the Northeastern neighborhood.
