The winner, Ed Coulson, is 66, so at least HE should have known better!
Ed redeemed himself tonight with the Sirius category. I got all 5 answers with no problem. So, I’m clearly of a certain age and listening to too much Sirius radio and classic rock in the car! And if they ever have a Sirius Howard Stern category, I might do okay with that too!
I ran that category as well. It was a fun one.
Tough Final Jeopardy today - at least for the contestants. 3 different response, all of them wrong. The answer seemed obvious to me. Guess I was alone.
I thought the question was easy but one of my kids was a big fan of a certain author
My husband got it easily but I didn’t. I hate when that happens!
Pretty sure I have never viewed a FJ question I didn’t know as easy.
@MaineLonghorn Funniest thing I’ve heard lately. On Entertainment Tonight just now, they had a segment about Brad Pitt and his new house in California and his interest in architecture, complete with a picture of him at Fallingwater “in Illinois.”. I guess somebody moved Fallingwater from Pennsylvania while I wasn’t looking!
Dang, Husband got Final Jeopardy again tonight with no problem. I missed it again. I don’t know if I should be happy I married a smart guy or VERY annoyed that he keeps besting me!
So Ken will start next season as the host in September. And will host the first ever Second Chance Tournament and the Tournament of Champions for this season (including Matt, Amy, Mattea and Ryan). Ken’s hosting run will be through December. Mayim will be hosting in January and will host Celebrity Jeopardy, the College Championship and several new tournaments. How long she hosts the regular show appears to be up in the air based on her other schedule. Show says they won’t flip flop constantly to provide some consistency.
So, these tournaments will NOT be prime time?
I am not sure about all these special prime time tournaments. They are milking the brand. Maybe they can do a Loser’s Championship, consisting of all the contestants who ended up negative and didn’t get to play Final Jeopardy?
Historically, the tournament of champions is on for 2 weeks in the normal Jeopardy time slot. Expect the second chance tournament would be the same.
I agree in terms of overexposure of the show with respect to the additional tournaments. I think the college tournament was fine. I think the second chance tournament has potential. Kid who won his games on the college tournament but was eliminated because they had 4 semi final winners but only 3 spots in the final will be on. There also are contestants who had a lot of potential but who ran into buzz saws of super champs.
But they talked about that when they said they need multiple hosts because they plan to extend the brand. Will see how it goes and if they take it too far. And its not like we don’t have instances of overextension working out poorly.
I’m looking at you, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Weakest Link.
Second Chance Tournament should invite the admissions officer from Tufts(I think?) who earned over $50K and lost to Holhauzer by a dollar. I believe he earned the most money in a Jeopardy game without actually winning it.
Has there been info who will be included in the 2d chance tournament? Is it just from this season or from prior seasons as well?
there is nothing wrong with Mayim Bialik that I can put my finger on. Maybe she is a little boring. But Ken Jennings is REALLY REALLY good as host- like in another league from her. he is so quick witted and brings just a slight edge to things sometimes. whether it’s fake or not it really seems like he knows the subjects better than the players.
this is blasphemous but I think he might even be as good as Alex (I actually mean better but I’m afraid to say that out loud)…
The confident, quick-thinking Ken Jennings who is now hosting is nothing like the nervous, unsure Jennings who took over after his close friend Alex Trebek passed away.
I said it ‘out loud’ above that I like Ken better than Alex. I think he’s nicer and doesn’t seem like a know-it-all like Alex often did (gee, Alex, it is easier when you have the answers in front of you).
I watched the original shows with Alex that were shown just after he died. I kept thinking he was the ‘Quiz Master’ they were teasing Ted Baxter about being rather than a newscaster on the MTM show. Alex was talking very fast and ‘punching’ out the questions and answers. He was rough and not comfortable – just like all the hosts trying out for the permanent position last year. It takes time. Ken is better now. Mayim is better too, but still not as fluid as Ken.
Ken , I think, is the smartest one in the room. He not only knows the answer, but some concurrent fact.
Can someone share the female singer? I didn’t watch that show. CK?
I think we’re past the spoiler stage, but scroll down
