Rowan said they were non-binary when discussing their name change, and Ken used they/them.
For a person IRL, ask.

I caught when Rowan said that–did not know which pronouns were indicated–there is a variety of pronouns that can be used (just learned about “zim” and “zer”, new to me).
I apologize–did not catch Ken using they/them.
Since Rowan is on a TV show, asking for pronouns IRL is tough to do.
At my age sometimes I feel the world is changing too fast for me to keep up. Let’s just put this behind us and move on. Consider me educated.
Is this year’s TOC running as usual, 5 days of quarters, 3 winner-take-all semis, and a 2 day final?
If so, there are 2 quarterfinals left, today’s contestants were announced yesterday, and we haven’t seen Matt Amodio, Amy Schneider, or Mattea. Do they get a pass, being superchamps?
If they did any seeding, then any one of those 3 should have already appeared against less players. The 3 who competed on Monday were particularly underwhelming.
Unless I missed something…
Matt/Amy/Mattea were given byes into the semifinals in recognition of their historic win totals.
Thank you! I knew something seemed different.
Matt will be on Nov 8th & 10th. I don’t know where I read that so you may want to verify for yourself.
Despite not being fond of Rowan in their first go round a while ago , I was rooting for Rowan this time . Sorry the wish won’t come true, to go up against Matt Amodio again!
That would mean that Matt wins the semifinal round, which is no surprise. Looks like someone spilled the beans.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the final round is Matt, Amy and Mattea.
Yeah, I picked up as well on that spoiler but didn’t want to call attention to it.
Even toned down, I still found Rowan’s affect irritating. Not necessary.
Boring people on Jeopardy are allowed, unlike Wheel of Fortune. Love the show because it’s based on WHAT you know, knowledge and truth, not foolishness.
Funny WOF story—wife’s uncle was a huge fan, such that he tried out when the show held local auditions. Now, he was the quintessential laconic New England farmer, down to answering every question with an simple “ayuh”. Let’s just say he did NOT impress the recruiters to death, but was very thrilled when they gave him a WOF hat!
Not sure Rowan meant the reference to Matt as any kind of spoiler.
Matt already had a bye and they just were hoping for another crack at him. At least, that’s how I took it.
I think the spoiler is that he is on 11/8 then 11/10.
The winners of 11/7, 11/8 and 11/9 will play 11/10 and 11/11.
I’ve seen in multiple sources that the 11/8 game is an exhibition game between the top 3 seeds (Amy, Matt, Mattea). So no spoilers, I would think.
What I was expecting was Matt, Amy, and Mattea each in one of the semis. Like top seeds in a tournament, you don’t want them to meet until near the end.
To have two of the 3 eliminated in a semifinal would be poor planning. So an exhibition? Are they exempted from the actual tournament for being “too good at the game”?
Sometimes I think the producers are overthinking this, trying to make the game “fresh” or different. Die hard fans don’t want that, and I don’t believe gimmicks will attraction non-watchers.
The way I understand it, from reading various things… Matt, Amy, and Mattea all had byes in the first round. The explanations I’ve seen for the 11/8 game is that it’s 1) to give people a chance to see the top three head-to-head, 2) to give them a chance to warm up on their buzzer skills, since they weren’t in the earlier rounds, and 3) to make sure an actual TOC game isn’t preempted by election coverage. Sorry I don’t have a source to link to; I’ve just read what people in other forums have posted based on tweets or something from Jeopardy!
Thanks. I agree with your explanation. The producers recognize that Nov 8th’s show may be bumped due to election coverage (as you explained) so I don’t think my post represented a leak. I think I read the dates in some CT newspaper online.
Jeopardy! appreciates knowledge AND personality. Both are evaluated and considered as part of the contestant audition process.
Rowan’s “affect” certainly is necessary- for them. It’s part of their personality.
6 days of QF, an exhibition game with Matt, Amy, and Mattea, and three semis. The final runs until one person wins 3 games.
So this will run into a third week?
Celebrity Jeopardy (cough cough)?
Yes. Monday is the last QF. Tuesday (subject to preemption) is the exhibition. W-F are semis. Finals the following week (and potentially beyond, since it could run 7 games).
