Run a google search on several colleges and compare the number of results. :)

you do it and then report your results back to us.............

harvard wins

"cornell university" beat the rest of the ivy league(excluding harvard)

but problem. how do u know if it's graduate school or undergrad.
Surely swarthmore would have less results than harvard because of its lack of grad institutions as well as independent post-doctoral research facilities.

wow princeton beat yale

University of Texas beats Harvard University. Interpret this as you wish.

No it doesn't.

did a similar thing last year with CC posts:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=67148

normalized the # of posts /college by undergrad population.

Princeton #1 by far

banana- I think it's 100% accurate. Look:

:D

Tufts vs. University of Michigan: Michigan
Tufts vs. NYU: NYU

Interesting....
I guess Tufts isn't as popular of a school as I thought.

some LACs by the Google method.....

Williams>Amherst=Oberlin>Wellesley>Vassar>Middlebury>Colgate>
Bucknell>Swarthmore>Bowdoin>Barnard=Carleton>Hamilton>Bryn Mawr>Colby>Bates

Some of the other highly regarded LACs, like Pomona, Haverford & W&L, have significantly fewer hits.

note: removed "Roger Williams College" from Williams College; too many variants of Wesleyan & Trinity to include.

Stanford beats Yale and Princeton

haha, ouch, that's not even close. :D

well, obviously some universities are gonna totally destroy others

for example, columbia and brown and the university of texas obviously have names that are fairly common throughout the internet

However, this method is "ok" for a few of the big name schools, and it makes sense when you think about it
the internet is a collection of information from all over the world, and the more prestigious schools will have more written about them

I'm not surprised that Cornell is doing better than the rest. Here in the silicon valley, Cornell is viewed about the same as stanford and mit, and HY really don't cut it too much in silicon valley....the harvard and yale guys usually get owned by the science/tech Ivy caliber schools :)!!....the best and brightest are usually seen to go science schools, and cornell is definitely leading the ivy image in that sense.

Papa - One way to filter out the variations on Williams and Wesleyan: include the home towns:
http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=%22Wesleyan+University+Middletown%2C+CT%22&word2=%22Williams+College+Williamstown%2C+MA%22

Hey, this is fun! Even using "Connecticut" as a proximate word filter, Wesleyan has a slight edge over Swarthmore:

The same "Connecticut" filter can be used on both Wesleyan and Trinity:
http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=en_GB&word1=%22Wesleyan+University%22+Connecticut&word2=%22Trinity+College%22+Connecticut

USC vs. UCLA: USC wins

USC vs. NYU: USC wins (it is not even close.)
