New Music Practice Facility for SC Thornton

It was announced this week that the Thornton School of Music will have a new practice facility. No date has been set for the building's construction.

Where did you get this information?

I have been attending Thornton since 2001, and they have been saying that since years before I even started.

Watch, it will happen a decade after I graduate (using my tuition and I won't be benefitting from it, of course.)

The article referring to the proposed new practice facility was written by Laura Nelson and can be found in the SC Daily Trojan on December 2, 2008. The plan involves other buildings as well. President Sample remarked no buildings would be constructed until all funding is completed in advance.

In other words, not in enough time for any new incoming/current students to enjoy...

I've been cleaning up my e-mail inbox, and found an old message from dean Cutietta (Dec. 15, 2008).

Basically, some Thornton offices will move to the second floor of PIC-- no word on extra practice rooms;
but ASI building is being demolished to make way for the cinema school! Hello, isn't that a historic building? (although it takes up quite a bit of space and was not massively useful.)
