New/North vs McCarthy Honors for Freshman Housing?

Hello!

I’m in a position where I have a reasonable chance of getting a Trustee Scholarship or admission in 2023 :). I’m extremely social and looking for a good dorm experience, but I also don’t want to have the ability to be intellectual with my peers That being said, having the ability to go to parties is a must have for me, but I know how to control my pace. From my understanding, New/North is more of a ‘Greek’ dorm. I’ve heard that means easier access to parties or contacts on the Row. On the other hand, McCarthy is much nicer, and I love the private suite style. I was wondering if I could still get the same opportunities and connections to go out in McCarthy, or if there is a separation between that dorm and the freshmen of New/North.

Also, can anyone speak to the social aspects of McCarthy? Is it spirited, or mainly academic based?

Thank you!

There are so many threads on this, search USC housing on this site. I think it best to get admitted first, there is a lot of time to figure out housing. But in the meantime, check out past threads.

My daughter is a Freshman living in McCarty, but most of her friends are in Pardee, Birnkrant, and New North. Everyone has access to everything, it doesn’t really matter where you live. McCarthy is really nice though, if you have the opportunity to live there its a great option.

@kcheves good to know! Thank you!
