Pray tell, please explain to me how on earth this is good for our economy? The vast amount of illegal immigrants who are sucking at the teats of every social program we have in America while not contributing are part in parcel why our deficit is and will continue to expand at a rate that has bankrupt our country. Do you realize 47% of Americans do not pay taxes at all?

Where is the money going to continue to come from to provide them with free education, welfare, Medicaid, prisons/more law enforcement, etc., etc.?
You can argue with your emotions that it’s not fair until the cows come home – that doesn’t negate the fact that there IS NO MORE MONEY! It may not be fair that they are here through no fault of their own; however, their parents’ illegal act has and is continuing to infringe upon those who are here legally – it needs to stop.</p>

<p>Because talented productive people can become leaders and entrepreneurs and by making money and eventually investing it, spending it - which keeps others in business, donating it, and paying taxes - which educates youngins and cares for oldins, and eventually employing others which provides a multiplier on their labor, they create a significant net increase to Gross National Product. </p>

<p>I’ve worked with migrant farmworkers, mostly undocumented. ALL of them (no exceptions) pay into Social Security (but never collect; my mother thanks them, but the so-called crisis in Social Security is partially created by there being too FEW undocumented workers these days, coupled with African American males living too long); ALL of them pay into Medicare, which they will never collect; all of them pay into workers comp, and all of them have taxes taken out of their checks (but most will never file for a refund). They all pay state sales taxes. The growers in my state won’t be caught DEAD without this happening, as they know the state will be all over them like white on rice. But they can’t get enough workers! (so if your kid would like to make up to $20 an hour, let me know.)</p>
<p>Undocumented workers, the ones I’ve worked with, have extremely, extremely low rates of arrest and incarceration, almost none are in state prisons (because they would have been deported); none can receive public assistance (because unless they are on TANF, the only public assistance - $197 a month - is available for aged, blind, and disabled, or for refugees (which, by the way, is about to be cut off, as has food stamps in 43 states.)</p>

<p>Mini, I suspect that in agricultural communities there is less crime among illegal immigrants. The punks who are uninterested in making a contribution to society tend to come to cities and travel with their gangs. It takes a work ethic to entice someone to come where the only avenue to cash is through hard work.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, the criminal punks prey first and foremost on fellow illegal immigrants. In some places, the rate of crime and incarceration of illegal immigrants is very, very high and very, very expensive.</p>
