Haha. Did you enjoy it? Did you play some golf =P very fun game. People seem to like it here (we get so many snowbirds, people who ditch cold weather in the winter). The hotels get so packed, they just built 7-8 more resorts in the past year or two and are currently building more.

Did I enjoy it? What kind of question is that? Of course I enjoyed it. The spa was amazing and the pool was delightful. I am not much of a golfer. My handicap is in the high single digits...per hole! hehe. I even remember what I ate. I had a lobster soup, followed by a Wild Turbot with black truffles, followed by an absolutely decadant rack of lamb and of course, a dessert that melted my palate! That's was only one of my two meals there. The second meal was a tasting menu, but I cannot remember what I ate. I sort of passed out after the 7th course! LOL

Ah everyone is biased for their own school except for Gutrade and Alexandre.

I tend to believe Gutrade more, however, because he backs up his claims with links and external evidence. Also, you have to admit that he crushed Devil May Cry's argument with his statistical explanation.

Alexandre is da man!!!

rooster08:

How did he? His statistical explanation proved nothing save for how these student perceptions are formulated on an aggregate level. LOL I though I actually won here. The central debate was on whether or not these rankings equated prestige. I believe that I sufficiently explained how they do not. Moreover, Alexandre and Gurtrade are on two opposing spectrums here. So, I find it strange how you seem to relate to both of them.

Meh...to each his own.

You can't just declare yourself a winner. More people agree with gutrade than with you anyway. In the sense of public approval and strength of argument, gutrade wins.

"More people agree with gutrade than with you anyway."

I advise you to read the posts again.

"In the sense of public approval and strength of argument, gutrade wins"

How do YOU speak for the public? You decided to interject yourself into a debate in which you obviously do not understand. Moreover, why re-ignite this flame? The argument was finalized with Alexandre (a person whose opinion carries more weight than any of us since he has actually BEEN through the collegiate system) sided with my thesis. The rankings are NOT indicative of prestige and I can list a plethora of people who will agree with me (vis-a-vis Majayi, Alexandre, collegekid (I think lol), etc.) Also, if you believe these rankings ARE representative of reputation....prove it. :)

14 and second among LACs! Not bad...

this thread is cool. thought i'd revive it.

but then the title becomes misleading to the casual reader

You should have searched for more current threads before doing that. I'll lock this thread, after posting here to note that the working paper was revised once more after the original post of this thread back in 2004, and has been in preparation for peer-reviewed formal publication for a while.
