Last week the College Board previewed sample SAT questions. Takeaway from The Atlantic article cited below: the new SAT questions will be linked to components of the Common Core standards, with major changes particularly to the math component, e.g., students will be asked to link abstractions with real world phenomena. This may create advantages or disadvantages to students depending on the teaching methods of their high schools, considering that 42 states are implementing Common Core standards in their high school curricula. The methods of high schools in teaching the standards - and college coaches - will impact the success of the students on the SAT.
