New study: 'Elite' Schools should boost low income enrollment

so bates and UCB are using more subjective criteria-aka recs?

What about technical schools. Can they minimize SAT and still get qualified candidates?

There is one school that our K is applying for grad school and they said that do NOT want to see GRE scores. I guess, that if you think you are qualified to apply and have the recs, that they will look at the app. The GRE is meaningless to them.

His advisor told K, to do well on the GRE Math (get 800), and don't worry about the verbal and writing sections (which he didn't finish), when applying to other grad schools.

"Do the elite schools have a responsibility to serve a wider range of the public in exchange for their not for profit tax advantages? I think they do; they should provide a public service to more than the wealthy in exchange for real property and other tax breaks."

Do public servants all serve the public at large? Don't you get real property tax breaks.
