This looks like a great way for prospective students to get a sense of what life at McGill is like.

At US$ 2700 all inclusive it is a lot cheaper than comparable programs offered at many US universities, most of which are in cities far less interesting than Montréal. I wonder if it is being marketed primarily south of the border?
Good question. We received a mass email letting us know about it. D is very interested. She has already applied for a different summer program, but if that doesn’t work out, we’ll definitely look more into the McGill opportunity.
Was there any more information in the e-mail about the course content and/or the professors teaching?
No. This is all it said. I did sign up to receive updates.

Well, my D’s other summer program didn’t pan out, so she will probably be registering for the McGill summer academy! There’s a little more info on the website now, FYI. Registration opens Feb 1 and there are 50 spots in each of the two streams.
My D just returned from the Summer Academy. She really enjoyed the program! She said it was very well organized. Students stayed in New Rez. D did the Neuroscience course. Classes were taught by grad students, and were very interesting and engaging per D. They did lots of fun activities, like a day trip to Quebec City, a Cirque du Soleil show, hiking Mont Royal, and several museum visits. The only minor complaint D had was that the food could have been better. The students were from all over the world. There were quite a few from the US and Canada, but also several from Europe, and a few from the Middle East and Asia. D really had a great time and I’m sure she would heartily recommend the program.
Just an FYI. Registration for the 2018 Summer Academy opened on February 7th and was to run until March 7th. The program filled up by February 9th!
