NEW trying to get a feel? Thanks.

Can someone name some elite schools in the united states?:)

I anticipate that this thread is going to get a lot of passionate answers.

1.) Probably better if nobody mentions their own school. I will try to refrain from introducing mine into the conversation.

2.) Did you mean elite med schools, or elite premed programs, or what?

Elite premed schools. Thanks again.

Generally, if you are trying to get into medical school and do well there, small liberal arts colleges (LACs) give you very good odds. Schools in this vein include Amherst, Williams, etc.

Second, most of the schools that are considered "prestigious" overall usually have very good premed tracks. Harvard, Yale, Princton, Stanford often go by the acronym HYPS on these boards, if I recall correctly. There are exceptions - some schools that are very focused on producing, say, engineers often grade too hard and might not have very good advising.

Finally, it's important to consider "fit", as well. For you, you might prefer schools with larger classes (i.e. UVa, UCB, etc.). I'm very grateful to have taken small classes. It varies a great deal from person to person, and just because one school is better for most people doesn't mean it's better for all people.
