New UVA Office of Admission website

I'm with cav. I like "the world's best undergraduate experience." It's not contrived. It sounds less bland and generic and is more true to UVA. Its a phrase which sticks with you.

You guys make me laugh. Not every student at Harvard, Yale, or U. Chicago fall within "the best" category. (I hate to refer to US News rankings but for the sake of argument, even Harvard's Engineering dept. is ranked #30 - hardly the best, but that won't stop Harvard from considering itself "the best university" in the country, even the world.)

Furthermore, if you've taken a class taught by Rita Dove, Larry Sabato, or any of the many other great professors at UVa, or have studied with any of many students at UVa who did better than 1490 in the their SATs, then guess what? You have learned (and studied) with among the best.

SV3A - Who are these "upstarts" you referred to earlier?

Globalist, far more of the students at Harvard fall into the "best" category than at UVA. Geez, if you wanted to list all the top-notch professors at Harvard and all the successes of its undergrads every year we'd be here all day. And again, the 1490 figure for the SAT 75th percentile is incorrect.

I don't know why it's so hard for you to admit that UVA isn't "the best" academically at the moment. It is "the best" at other things, in my opinion, and it is very, very good academically. When I say this I'm not being negative about UVA in the least. There's nothing wrong with being realistic and realizing that there are only 6-8 schools that could even being to lay claim to having the "best" scholars.
