New UW Chancellor give state of UW report

It's like she read my mind the last few years.

Blank speaks to Faculty Senate about challenges and opportunities (Oct. 8, 2013)

Chancellor Blank addresses out-of-state tuition, shared governance in State of the University : Daily-cardinal

Thanks for posting. UIUC looking more and more attractive. Of course she doesn’t note that the in-state fees for Wisconsin are also much lower than surrounding states and only suggests raising oos tuition to improve finances.

UIUC has major issues itself and neither the level of research or private $$$ UW enjoys as a cushion. The state pension funds are broke while UW’s are fully funded–among top few in US in that regard.

Yes - know all about Illinois’ poor state of finances as we are from Illinois. At current rates, we may may contemplate Wisconsin - if it goes up, it makes no sense IMO.

Yes, I understand that issue. I’d expect gradual rise around 5% a year for OOS tuition. I think they need to test reactions–loss of potential OOS students. Also fin aid needs tune-up.
