my guess would be they send the next best group of scores that didn't get scholarships, but of course maybe they just have it all mixed together into a big pile called "welcome to USC!" and who knows which letter gets the stamp first...alphabetical, scores, geograhic.....ahhhhg

I suspect that some Dean scholarship acceptances will go out and I read that people who get Dean's are part of the top 18% of the applicant pool. crosses fingers for Friday

so... basically what kind of stats would you need for that?

that might mean the deans scholarship possibilities wouldn't get the no scholarship letter, but they might have gotten the mid-year request letter?..so here comes their wave next...i'm still hoping that other letters might start coming out sooner rather than later...where usc says you're in, but you have to wait to hear from the school like cinematic arts to to see if you got in there....

No, the no-scholarship letter was referring to the President and Trustee scholarships, not the lower ones.

top 18% of the applicant pool... that's kinda hard to be general on considering some people got presidential with 1900 SATs

The 18% is from http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=150049&highlight=usc+deans+scholarship

Hm, I don't know if any Dean's Scholarships will go out this week. We'll just have to wait and see but, here are some stats of students who attend 'SC (not just those who received the scholarships) from 2005.

2005 Entering Freshman Class
New Freshmen 2,741
USC Trustee Scholars (full-tuition) 110
USC Presidential Scholars (half-tuition) 258
USC Dean's Scholars (quarter-tuition) 53
National Merit Scholars 194
National Hispanic Scholars 16
National Achievement Scholars 3

I've been contaced for an interview regarding the alumni scholarship (even though I received the no scholarship letter which I assume meant I didn't receive a presidential scholarship etc.) so does this mean I've been accepted? LOL or do they interview everybody who applies? Ohhh I hope this is a good sign!

wow lucky, that sounds like a good sign to me.
how'd they contact you?

anyutachka- give us more info- we haven't heard anyone else who has received this. What does it say? When did you get it? What are your stats?

An alumnus contacted me via email and I am scheduled for a phone interview this Thursday... I called USC and tried to vaguely ask if these interviews were granted to accepted students or all applicants the person the phone said "interviews have passed" and then I said but I've just been contacted for one and she said "then I guess you can still have one" so I realized she didn't understand my question or was evading me and I decided not to bother her anymore and just wait IMpatiently... Good luck to everybody I hope we all get in :) Just out of curiosity... are most people on this forum from California?
