This is a thread for kids in New Tork state who are on mock trial. What does everyone think about the case?

whoa, u guys are just starting it? we finished here in LA County in early December (or was it late november, cant remember) and the state tournament is about to begin...which case is it, People vs. Kendall?

I'm part of teen court, is mock trial rehearsed, how does it work?
In the program that I am a part of I try actual sentencing cases, some local lawyers have trained us, are you guys trained?
I am not familiar with the mock trial program.

woot woot, go louisville (that's my school) la county mock trial champions!!

The affadavits are a lot longer than last year's. Some of the case law seems helpful, but there's also alot of irrelevant information in the case brief

we beat louisville...two years ago :p

pegdiver, were u on the team then? i was the defense attorney with the long brown hair...remember me? :D

this year we lost in sems...arggh...stupid gabrielino...good thing u guys took care of em

macca's direct seems a lot like jo's direct from last year--- sympathetic witness, that's all

i hate how the case is designed so that most of the information only comes out through Macca or Robbie. the other witnesses contribute only minorly.

i hope i see some of you this year! i play for northport.

Babybird,
What school in ny do u go to? I have some advice that might help you out a little about the witnesses, but i just want to make sure we dont compete against you in preliminaries lol.

ahh sorry i didnt see that u said u went to northport, my bad

naw i wasn't on the team, but my two best friends were, yah two years ago, who cares about them...

ok the one gabrileno lawyer with the funny voice just KILLED me, he'd get all self-righteous and angry, tee hee

the case isnt too much fun. if you are doing the trial, what angle are you guys using? whats your plan. my school actually got to the second round last year but we didnt find out until it was too late, they hate us. what parts from the law are you using for the defense?

since Macca is suing on the grounds of violation of the Prudent Investor Act, winning a favorable decision is all about applying the case law: meaning that whether you're the plaintiff or defense, Robin and Andy are your 2 key witnesses(Macca and Robbie are the most important as far as telling the story goes). The 2 key things from the case law that you want to hit on are the parts where they talk about trustees having to diversify unless it is outside of the minor's interests, as well as examining the potential risk and return of the investment. If you can use that, you'll be fine

Hey.
I'm playing Robbie. What cross questions should I be prepared for?

good luck next week-- that's when my cases start!
