I’m going to grade 8 at a ny prep school, but I’ve been thinking about switching to Bronx Science for high school. Its a bit late, and I still haven’t figured out what to do, so does anyone here know much about bronx science?
did you take the shsat test yet?
You need to sign up for the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) test which is given to 8th graders in late October or early November. I believe that the guidance office at your private school should be able to help you sign up.
There is basic information about the process here:
http://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/High/specialized/default.htm
(note that the information at the top of that page about the summer test only applies to students who moved to NYC after last year’s test was given and who are starting 9th or 10th grade this year.) On the right side of that page there is an email address and phone number for inquiries about the NYC high school admissions process.
Here’s a link to the Specialized High School Handbook:

It has sample tests inside. You can also pick up a paper copy at a district office aka Welcome Center. There’s a list of them here:

Good luck! It’s not an easy test and many students prep for it.
