***New York State Algebra II and Trig Regents June 2014***

^ -i(radical)2

@mathislife‌ I agree, although I feel like geometry is the visualization of some of the concepts previously learned. I think it is exceptionally important in teaching how to think mathematically and I think it’s the building blocks for higher level mathematics. Although I do agree, it’s a lot more logic and thinking than other math courses therefore making it less mathy xD personally I’m still not over getting the last multiple choice wrong and ending up with a 97. Ughhh haha. And stats is fun! Although, I still hold firm on my belief that statistics is really not a math course xD

If I did the inequality equations right but did not do the correct set notation, how many point off would that be? And for tj part two question with the i, I got -x^2+y^2. If that is wrong how many points off is that?

I think I got a 99 because I don’t remember what I put : (

@Saswizy‌ - Did you take AP Stat this year, too? Btw, I agree with what you said about geometry being more about “thinking mathematically” per se, but Regents grades definitely aren’t indicative of that. (I hope this doesn’t come off as bragging, but I had no idea what I was doing on the geometry Regents last year and still ended up with 100…case in point.)

@Indiangurl‌ you’ll probably get 1 point for both.

thanks @Saswizy‌ !

I thought i did well but now checking with u guys here, i think i may have failed :frowning: What was the answer to question 9 asking about the function? I chose choice one cause it had an open dot and a close dot at the end.

Also what was the answer to the question where it had the pattern from -7x to -4x to -x… Was the common difference 3 or was it 3x?

I know i got the diver question wrong and te domain and range question(i put sin inverse(0, 2pie) . Also the question where we had to graph it, i got that wrong cause i put it in the calculator and drew a straight line.

Then the last question i used law of sines and got a resultant of 28 and ik that is wrong too

And the standard deviation i got 10 girls which i now know is 30  i really hope i passed…

@sunsh0wers‌ no, I actually took a course at a college last summer! I would never take AP stats at my school, everyone says the teacher is horrible, haha. And, not to downplay your 100 (that’s awesome!), but I think regents are really stupid. They’re tailored to make everyone pass but hard to do well on. But definitely, regents’ are, by no means, no measure of a person’s full intelligence.

Well, I’m glad it’s over but I’m sad about that one question…

@MusicalAsian7‌ the function was choice one

The common difference was 3x

But for the rest, don’t worry to much! I’m sure you didn’t fail!

@Saswizy - Don’t worry about it, I hate NYS exams with a burning passion. :stuck_out_tongue: I mean, it kind of boosts your self-esteem, which is nice, but the curve is really dumb. You’re lucky you didn’t take AP Stat this year, one of the FRQs was ridiculous. /: Really hope I managed to get a 5…

Omg then i got the function one right yay! XD and phew i did end up changing it to 3x  thanks!! I worked really hard for trig and went to all my teacher’s review sessions and i actually felt i understood most of it and then after the test i thought i maybe got mastery or low 80. Now after comparing im really hoping i passed :stuck_out_tongue:

Do colleges look at regents scores much? Im not the greatest at math but i have mastered everything else

Found an answer key with handwritten answers for y’all!
http://moodle.cssd.org/file.php/84/june_14_solutions.pdf</a></p>

Found it snooping around on twitter. If it asks for a password, log in as a guest. Then go to math, algebra 2/trig (not honors), use “trig” for the enrollment key, scroll down and find the june 14 solutions.

Looks like I got all the multiple choice right! Made stupid mistakes on some of the short answers, though. Without partial credit, looks I got around a 92, but hopefully with some partial credit I’m up to a 95 or something.

@sunsh0wers‌ yeah, i heard the test this year was really hard, especially the free response! But unlike the regents APs are curved for your benefit!

As my math teacher says, “It’s OK, it’s only your future!”

@MusicalAsian7‌ if you worked really hard, then I’m sure you got at least an 80! And with regard to colleges, I know they see them but I have no idea how much they actually weigh them. Probably not very much, haha

@sunsh0wers overall, how was AP stats. was it a huge leap in work intensity. i took AP World History and the work load was tremendously more than regular world history. also, how was the AP? overall pretty easy?could someone who allways gets 98s+ in accelerated math classes expect a 5?

Only CUNY and SUNY actually care about them here. I don’t know about California

For the part 4 question, did anyone get 58 pounds for the resultant and 39 degrees for the angle? I also thought the regents was overall very fair and easy, but this question stumped me.
