ajh33, can you elaborate on ur controversial and ignorant statement? NYU is a top-notch institution in business, law, philosophy and many others. combined with the NYC location, its unbeatable. i do not think NYU is overrated in this way..

people just think its the harvard that its not...its not as good as several schools such as notre dame, georgetown, duke, wash u of st louis, northwestern just to name a few.

I agree. Its top "programs" like law have nothing to do with the undergraduate education, which is top 35 at best. Its not the mecca some think it is. Also, it has no community or camraderie. Personally its my biggest nightmare, but some like it.

There is a 2% chance you won't get in ED, tops.

O.K. I think I will ignore the previous racist post.

NYU is a very challenging school. My #2 S is a freshman at Stern and he is a Stern scholar, however he didn't have a 3.5 gpa after the first semester so he is on probation for this semester along with about 50% of the other Stern scholars. It's not a piece of cake, that's for sure. But he does love it and it took a bit of adjustment in the first couple of months. He thinks there are very smart gifted multi-talented people there. Ex.: a kid on his varsity team is pre-med and plays the trumpet well enough to play the National anthem at games! I think that is unusual = athletic/academicand musical.

sounds kinda fruity to me...according to usnews there are about 36 better universities than this place..and several of the liberal arts schools are better than nyu also...such as any nescac school
