New Zealand Colleges

Alright, I'm only a sophomore, but I just came back from a business trip with my dad in New Zealand, and it is honestly the most beautiful place on earth. And I have pretty much been everywhere in the world.

The problem is, I can't really find any good information about the admission requirements/etc. of the two schools I'm mainly looking at.

So does anyone know about the University of Auckland or University of Canterbury? I'm trying to major in Engineering if that helps.

Also I'm a average student (3.5 GPA w/10ish APS + 9 honors by the time I graduate) and I am expecting a pretty good score on the SAT (208 on PSAT, and I plan on studying a decent amount for the real thing). I also am a very good track runner, and have attended national meets and the New York State Championships (not too sure if I'm pursing this in college).

So can anyone help me at all? There is close to no information online.

And would I be at a disadvantage applying for jobs/grad school once I return to the US? Even if the university is on par with some of the best US universities.

bump . . . . .

What events do you do in track/ what are your times?

I don’t think grades matter at all when you are applying to New Zealand colleges as long as you passed everything. At least it’s like that for NZ high school students. They just need to pass their exams and earn enough credits. But…
don’t go to NZ for college…

4:29 mile as a freshman, ran on my teams 4xmile at Nike Outdoor Nationals. Hopefully will be down around 4:10 senior year?
16:18 5k as a sophomore qualifying for NYS… Ran at a really fast course none the less.

Why not go to NZ for college if they are on par with American colleges? I’m not exactly looking for HYP like colleges, just not a complete joke college.

One last bump?

I still want ot know why you said not to go to a college in NZ if money is no problem and they are on par/better than american colleges i would attend?

waikato and auckland are probably on par

Why do you say not to go to NZ for college?

Many Americans attend Otago.

Longuylind and others,

You should contact the Education Officer at the Consulate of New Zealand that is closest to where you live. That person should be able to help you find out what you need to know.
