Hey everyone. I am new here. And I have very limited knowledge regarding application process and all. So does anyone care to explain some of the stuff ? I'm doing my AS at the moment.

When shall we apply for EA/ED? [I had read somewhere that we should apply eight months earlier. So, we need to apply on Oct/Nov if we want to get into the college on August, right?]

What are EA II and ED II?

When shall I start preparing for SAT?

What shall we send with our EA/ED applications? And how are we supposed to do so(CommonApp?)?

Sorry. As you might have figured out already, I've got very limited knowledge. Hope you people don't mind answering them in detail for me. If you could point me to some links or guides, that would be awesome too. :D

EA and ED deadlines are different in every college’s case. You should take a look at their website and search for a section named “Dates and Deadline”.

I hope the link provided by CS13 clears out everything about EA/ED.

I would suggest to prepare for the SATs after completing your 10th grade. Since you are in AS, you should immediately start preparing for the SATs.

Commonapp is very easy to use. Just go on filling the online form and provide the required documents it asks. That all!

You should start preparing for your SATs as early as possible - especially if you’re also planning to take SAT IIs. You might want to leave some buffer time in between just in case you want to retake your tests in order to raise your scores. Also, you should check NOW when are the possible SAT taking dates - they don’t occur every month, at least not in most Asian countries!!

Common App, as confidential2015 said, is pretty simple, but you might need your guidance counselor’s help in filling in some of the terms. I hope you school has one.

As for links and guides, it depends on which schools you are looking at? You should go to the college’s official sites, or check out advice given by real students. For example, this is a website started by Yale international students: unicq.net/universe that shares real experiences by admitted Ivy League students, mainly.

ED/EA deadlines are generally nov 1 or nov 15. but you must check the deadlines to be sure. but its better to send it 10 to 15 days before deadline

if you don’t get through EA/ED its the second chance to apply to another college

right from today…if you haven’t started.

most colleges use common app but some require their own forms. always check their site for required application package.
