My child recently submitted on the advice of the athletic coach. The school came back with a very generous offer but only included financial aid not athletic scholarship money. The coach advised me that Bucknell does not offer athletic scholarship in most sports but only in Patriot League sports. I was curious why the offer was not an athletic grant but now I know why. One question though…do “recruited athletes” of non Patriot league sports that are offered substantial money consider what they receive as a scholarship or not? Do they celebrate the offer as any DIV l scholarship athlete would? I would like to think so since earning a spot on a Dl team is an accomplishment regardless of how the school grants the money. Lastly how do they commit to the school and is it a formal process??
