Next door neighbours won't stop laughing

So there are these two guys in the room right next to mine. These two guys are ALWAYS in their room and they're ALWAYS talking. What's worse is that they laugh as much as they talk. The walls are very thin (**** EIFS) and so I can hear them laugh. I would usually be fine with laughing, and I'm fine with them talking, but their laugh is SO INCREDIBLY ANNOYING. They laugh as loud as they can and it turns into a near-guffaw. They both laugh the SAME EXACT LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS WAY and their laugh is more annoying than the Click and Clack tappet brothers from Car Talk.
HELP
HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS?
They laugh almost every day all the way until like 3 am some days. I have to do homework so I can't listen to music and it's too cold to walk to the library. help me

Study rooms in your dorm? You can’t bear the cold for 5 minutes walking to the library?

It seems unreasonable that anyone should be laughing loudly that late in the evening/early in the morning on a weeknight. You may wish to ask your RA or similar if s/he has any suggestions about how to help have more quiet in your own room so you can sleep/study or otherwise enjoy what you wish in your own room, especially after midnight. Perhaps more leeway would be OK on a weekend (F/Sat).

The room next to me used to be like this! There was this one girl with tons of friends and her and a big group of guys and girls would stay up talking and laughing hysterically until late at night, typically around 12 - 3am. They’d leave the door to the room open too so when I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom I’d see them all crammed inside the room just talking and joking around.

It was so annoying.

In the stone age, when I was in grad school, I had a guy who would regularly have loud friends over & they’d stay up late make a lot of noise (we shared a common wall). I finally had enough & knocked on the wall, asking them to quiet down & they just got noisier. After the friends left, he started giving me crank calls (our phone numbers were sequential so it was easy to figure out everyone’s phone number). The next day, I complained to the RA, who promptly got my phone # switched so he couldn’t call me any more. Shortly thereafter, he moved out (I believe he was kicked out) of the grad dorm. I believe there were other complaints against him, but I didn’t ask but was extremely relieved. Most of the others in the dorm were pretty considerate.

Go up to them and say “Hey, guys, can you quiet down? I’m trying to study/sleep.”
This’ll work if it’s late or past midnight. During the day just use earplugs/headphones…or study somewhere else.
Seriously…it’s kind of hard to say “STOP LAUGHING!” without sounding like a jerk.

^ Try this first. If that doesn’t work, then go to the RA. I would try to talk about it with them before going to the RA because it’s possible they don’t know how disruptive they’re being.

also, did I mention the girl in the room next to me also SINGS during the day as if no one else hears, like she is right now.

it’s the dorm, these things happen, get used to it

schritzo - dude my roommate sings during the day _
and hes always singing
really loudly

Earplugs! Get some good quality earplugs, they are amazing!

One word, ballistic grade ear protection. You guys can buy guns at the corner store down there in the states so it should be pretty easy to find a pair. Put those on and you’re in your own little world.

I had some neighbors like that. They smoked pot. I called the cops on them (because their wretched pot smoke filled my apartment) and they piped down for the rest of the month (when they were evicted).

I think you can use some noise cancelling headphones (bose?) w/out listening to any music.

^ Yeah but that takes batteries…and costs a **** load of money aha

We’re in a similar situation, except the people on both sides of us yell and scream and fight and etc. Get a really loud fan/heater to drain out the noise. That’s what we do.

Easy! Take them to “Just Go With It” when its released. After that crapfest, they won’t be laughing for at least a couple of months.

TomServo, did you REALLY call the cops on your neighbors for pot? WOW. I need to splash cold water on myself or something to contain my swelling rage…

^Yeah, that’s up there in terms of dick moves.

Haha, I rented the lower half of a duplex one year. My roommate and I both had to be up early for work in the morning and our upstairs neighbors were throwing this RAGER party. By 3am, we were banging on their door to no response (we think they knew it was us). By 4am, my roomie and I couldn’t take it anymore. Since our apartment had sole access to the basement and the circuit breaker, my roomie went down and . . . cut their power. I heard this collective, “AAAAAWWWWWWW!!!” We watched from the window as they all filed out (screaming like college girls do when they’re drunk), waited half an hour with a drink, turned their power back on, and caught 2 hours of sleep. They never did it again.
