next year's classes

At the moment i'm taking trig/into calc and AP biology. Next year would it be too much if i were to go to
AP calculus BC AND AP physics C part 1 (mechanics)?
i would also be taking AP literature, and AP spanish literature along with a ton of extracurriculars. Is this course program manageable or would it be a better idea to take physics b instead of C, or calc AB instead of BC?

Unless you’re strong in math, I would go with Calc AB and Physics 1 (the equivalent to Physics B. They’re changing Physics B to Physics 1 and Physics C to Physics 2 this year.)

If you’ve been handling AP Bio well though, I’d take a couple of APs, but don’t expect to ever sleep if you are simultaneously taking that many ECs.

I would either cut a couple of the AP courses or a couple of the ECs, however, I don’t believe you could do them all at once. What is your current grade level, and what ECs are you thinking of taking? This information would help determine how manageable this schedule would be.

I’m currently a junior, and I would say im strong in math. My average in trig/calc is a pretty solid A, and i havent had much trouble with much this year in that class. I don’t have THAT many ECs but the ones im in are very time consuming. I’m in spanish club, music lessons, tutoring, i’ve got jazz big band rehearsals twice a week for 2 hrs, and the musical every day until 6. (besides the days i do big band). i dont want to go down a level in both math and science from what i planned. If i want to do pre- med for undergrad, would it be more valuable for me to take BC calculus or Physics C (2) then? @hrs2015

I would recommend doing BC (or AB) and Physics 1. BC and Physics C are very intensive classes. Also, going into Physics C if you are only in AB is a bad idea.

@hrs2015‌ incorrect they are splitting B into 2 exams so there will be 4 exams, 1, 2, C E& M, and C mechanics

@guineagirl96 I’m so glad you told me that! I wasn’t aware they changed it to that…I thought it was just 1 and 2. Thank you!

If you’re going to do pre-med, try to take on the most challenging classes as you can WITHOUT overloading yourself. As guineagirl96 said, if you’re only in Calc AB don’t try Physics C. Physics C is calculus based while Physics B is algebra based, so you’d be overwhelmed if you were to take Physics C.

If you’re confident in your math skills and you feel like you can do it, take Calc BC. If your teacher recommends it for you then do it for sure! Otherwise, I would take Calc AB. Calc BC does look better on transcripts, but not if you have an F. I don’t know what your school does, but at mine they completely skip the first chapter of Calc BC because you were supposed to learn it in Calc AB. If you don’t have those basics down, you’re destined for failure. Keep us updated on what you pick though!
