NFAA Young Arts program

Yeah. About 6,000-8,000 apply for NFAA. 140 of those are selected as NFAA Finalists. Of the Finalists, 60 are nominated as Presidential Scholars in the Arts. Of those nominees, the PSA committee selects 20 Presidential Scholars in the Arts.

I’m going to apply next year on tuba. I’m already working on my Gregson Concerto. Any advice?

Congratulations to Heleta’s son who I just read was named a Presidential Scholar. Way to go!

I just noticed that two of the winners attend the same high school as a judge in the same category. I won’t name the category because I don’t want to imply that the winners were not deserving. However, I’m wondering if the YoungArts judges are allowed to judge their own students? This concerns me because my daughter would be competing against a student of one of the judges. I’m hoping they have a rule prohibiting this?
