My school has been on and off with NHS and we were chosen in 10th grade but nothing ever happened. (The teacher leading it had to coach, we got no community service or anything out of it) It’s being restarted now, should I bother applying? The new teacher is committed, but I will get max 5 hours by December. I would still be showing that I performed the max amount possible.
Do you have other extracurricular activities? If you have others that you have been continuously active with then honestly I think it depends if you want to apply or not.
I have a few, I’m considering it so it bulks up my app.
5 hours of NHS probably isn’t worth too much to colleges.
If you want to do it then go ahead. IMO the main reason to apply would be to support the teacher if you feel he/she is working towards creating something valuable for your HS. Being a member of NHS and doing 5 hours of volunteer work won’t in and of itself make a significant difference to a college application.
Colleges do not care about NHS. They care about the activities that get you admitted to NHS.
