NHSI Age requirements and such...

I was thinking of applying to NHSI this year in order to attend next summer. That will be the summer before my Junior year. I noticed that there's some sort of...grade requirement on their website, but I'm just...stupid to calculate it out. It's still sort of confusing for me...so my question is that will I be able to attend next summer? Or will I have to put it off until the summer before my Senior year? (Next NEXT summer).

Thanks for any help at all!

P.S. One more thing...do the application questions ever change? The..."Why is theatre important..." question...

I know when I emailed this year to ask a few questions, I was told that the program is only open to students who have COMPLETED their junior year of high school. My D just completed her sophomore year. We were told "we would be happy to take her application next year, but not this year". So it sounds like you will have to wait til the summer after next since I'm gathering you have just completed your freshman year.

Awww...bummer..Oh well. Hopefully things will..work out okay this summer then. Thanks for the help!

What is NHSI?? ::feels stupid::

National High School Institute at Northwestern

It's basically a summer camp intensive at Northwestern University. There is a program that mainly focuses on theatre arts and has an optional Musical Theatre extension.

Apply no later than March of your Junior year, for attendance that summer. It's well worth the wait -- my son went last year and I can honestly say it changed the course of his life. Seven weeks in the dorms at a gorgeous campus on the lakefront, long days of rehearsals and performances (which he thrives on), new friends he'll keep forever -- it was way more than we had even hoped for. He even met his present girlfriend there!
