Nicest word to describe someone not as "smart"

ME! jk, lol; i think I'm average
................................................
We've all had one of those awkward moments when talking to a friend or classmate, and at CC, a lot of us are overachievers. What word would you use to describe someone who has "smaller horizons" than you?

Human.

10 char.

^

I believe that's the best answer.

End of discussion...

moron :)
yep, this is the nicest word I can think of.

I don't go around talking about people who are dumber than me? I guess I would say that they're less academically focused and would rather do A, B, or C. I hate defining "smart," because it can mean so many different things.

I don't think you can define "smart." Everyone has things that they're either good at or either not so good at. If someone isn't as academically focused, it's their choice. Shouldn't matter to me.

I call them average.

Failure at life

I don't call them anything but their names. I happen to have a friend group made up almost entirely of artist types and a few "average" types. One of the "average" people that some of the overachievers here would look down on is the most honest, trustworthy, good-natured, inclusive, and generally GOOD person that I've ever met. Her parents are divorced, so she shuttles between houses every 2 weeks; her dad's an army veteran on welfare, and her mom works two jobs. She works much harder to pass all of her classes than I have to to get As - I see her studying/doing homework after school each day before catching the late bus home. She's also active in "my" club ("mine" because I'm the president), and she helps out at all our events/activities whenever I ask her despite the fact that she's the one who has to walk/take our ridiculously inadequate city bus system everywhere. She loves kids, and she's going to major in education - she wants to be an elementary or middle school teacher.

There's nothing better to make you sick with yourself - and other people like you - than knowing someone who's truly a good person. "Smaller horizons."

I just say "not as smart."

more of a people person? not as focused on academics? not the "school type"? hah this is a hard question...

Having a "small horizon" doesn't necessarily mean you're not smart. You could be the smartest person in the world and have the "smallest horizon".

Intellect, sociability, artistic ability, musical skill, and physical shape are all components that can expand one's horizon. Some people have their skills distributed evenly, and others have them concentrated in specific areas. Accept them as they are and don't feel ashamed if you aren't as intellectual as others.

Otherwise, just call them 'normal'.
