I'm going to live in a freshman dorm fall semester of my freshman year. I'm debating whether or not to bring my old N64 and Super Smash Bros, as I feel that's always a fun ice breaker and late night activity with people in the dorm. However, I'm not sure if all dorms have a common area with a TV. Do most have them or not?

Mine did, and so did the other dorms I visited at my school. Video games are always welcome. It would be more convenient if you or your roommate has a TV, but not required.

lol, bring them. especially if u plan on smoking pot or associating w/potheads. amazing game when high, bro

Of course!! Old school video games are the best “social” video games in my opinion. I haven’t stayed current on video games for a long time…I honestly still prefer the old school games like the N64, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.

One thing that I like about these games more-so than a lot of newer games, is the learning curve. Pretty much anyone can pick these older games up and be half-decent at it right off the bat. There aren’t hundreds of button combinations to memorize. The old-school button mashers are the most fun in my opinion.

Bring a gamecube instead.

I gotta bring Super Mario 64 and GoldenEye too.

GoldenEye is timeless. That’s one of the best games ever made for playing with groups of people.

Mario Kart. That’s a necessity.

Dorm common areas will generally have TVs, but there is no telling what adapter cords you’ll need or if other people will want to use the TVs for other events. The people I know who bring video game consoles to college generally have their own TVs.
