Hey guys,
I haven’t seen a thread for this yet, so I just decided to make one. I heard that the science school decisions were delayed, does anyone know about GSET? Last year the decisions came out in the early morning so I was just curious. But use this thread to discuss related to GSET for 2015.
The GSET decisions came out this morning at around 10 AM ish. Proud to say that I got in! Any fellow applicants around here?
@Potter16
Hey, I got waitlisted. I will hear back in a week. I knew a person who got off the waitlist so I am hopeful. Does anyone know how many kids are on the waitlist. They say usually 1-2 get off, so I am hoping they create the waitlist accordingly.
Sorry, I don’t know how many people are placed on the wait list. The number of people who get off the waitlist into acceptances depends totally on the number of accepted people who decide not to accept the admission offer. I’d imagine that there could be maybe around 5 people max who reject it out of the 60-90 admitted so you do stand a decent chance. Good luck and don’t lose hope!
@Potter16
Thanks for your support! It would be amazing if 5 people rejected it, but I don’t really know. I think the most frustrating part of the waiting list is that you don’t know where you stand on it. Luckily, i only have to wait 1-2 weeks.
I got accepted and the other applicant from my school also got in! I was expecting to get rejected but I guess I got lucky… Does anyone know what exactly to expect from the program ( like how intense is it REALLY, are we rooming with kids in the program)??
@HonokaBlues
I’m in the same position as you. I’m almost positive that we room with each other for the entire month and I don’t think we’re allowed off campus except for one or two times. It’s supposed to be pretty intense. If you look up NJ gset on YouTube you can see the research presentations from last year and it’s really quite impressive. But I don’t think there are really any prerequisites we actually need.
My S went last year and had the time of his life. Congrats to all that got in this year!
Its not nearly as intense as you think. 5 classes, robotics and physics with 3 electives. The options will come out later. The research project is the highlight of most kids’ experiences.There are scheduled activities constantly. There are a few robotics competitions just for bragging rights. If you aren’t in class or in research meeting, you are atteding a speaker, going on a trip, or doing a scheduled activity. Plan to have lots of fun and the time of your life. Don’t stress.
Conrats again. It will be awesome. You’ll see.
