Hi, everybody!

My counselor told me today that I am being considered for The Star-Ledger's annual scholarships (Mort Pye, etc.). I'm going to have to write an essay (750 words-ish), but it must be handwritten in school within an hour-long time limit.

Has anyone else written one of these? The topic is top-secret and all that jazz, but if someone has experience I'd be eternally grateful for an inkling of what they're looking for. I doubt I'll actually get any of the scholarships (the winners usually have cured a disease, written a novel, got 9 AP scores of 5 and 2400 SATs, and/or have been taking college courses since 7th grade) but I'd like to be a bit better-prepared, at least.
