My son was accepted to NJIT honors college where he plans to study biomedical infomatics. Can anyone give me feedback on the college or program since we are excited he could good for very little cost but concerned about the college experience in Newark.
My son is in the CS program at NJIT. The campus is small but well connected to mass transit. He loves the program and the university has been a good fit for him. There are two other adjoining college campuses. The area outside campus limits is not great, although improving with gentrification. It’s much better than a few years ago because the university bought up a lot of nearby properties for exapansion.
The honors students get their own dorms. Classes are rigorous. The campus experience is not the same as a large and spread out campus. If you can go to accepted students day, please do so. We live nearby and still found the accepted students day to be helpul in deciding.
What was your sons SAT score? Just wondering what it is to get into honors college. Thank you.

@InquiringMomof3 My son is not in the honors college. But he has many classmates who are, so I hear a lot about their perks. I think SAT has to be upward of 1400. You can check the honors college website to see if they have a current profile of students.
@momprof9904 Ok. Thank you. I did look at the website and they do give you and “average” so want to know how real that average was. Lol. 1400 is high. Yikes. Thank you.
