Are National Merit Finalists automatically admitted to the Honor’s College at UofF? If not, what kind of stats are needed to be considered for the Honor’s College?
I would love for this to be true, but I doubt it. I had heard from someone that was auto admitted to honors last year that if you have a uf gpa of 4.75 or > that you were auto in. I don’t know if this is still true, because the honors app was part of the main app and last year it was separate.
Thanks @JamesFL . I haven’t been able to find anything on their website.
They are no longer auto admitting for the honors program like last year. Last year the auto was based off SAT/ACT scores. 35+ or 1560+ was auto admit last year. This was my understanding but is not official via UF.
Thank you @moscott. Good to know.
@moscott just wondering how you know they will not have auto admits this year. The person that we know got auto admitted last year had a letter saying because her gpa was > 4.75 she was auto admitted, so maybe there was more than one way to earn it.
Was told by UF there would be no auto admit this year like last. There is a thread from last year somewhere about the topic. Everything mentioned was in regards strictly to SAT/ACT.
Here is the link from last year

The concept of auto-admission to the Honors College is not relevant this year since the honors application/essays were done along with the original application and honors decisions will be released along with acceptance decisions on Friday. We won’t know what criteria were used for the honors decisions. In prior years, there was a separate application that was completed after the school acceptances and some students were exempt from needing to complete it by being auto-admitted.
You would think the honors college would (assuming a certain level of stats) be even MORE holistic than regular admission.
Essays are hugely important for honors admission. It is very random. I know many NMF who did NOT get in.
