NMF Rejection Letters are likely being received this week.

Oh yeah, that would be useful @mom2collegekids …hang on! I called 1/15, so last Thursday, slightly before 2:36 PM.

That makes sense. So, likely they all went out last week. In the past, they all seemed to have been mailed by mid Jan. If we could find the old rejection threads from the last couple of years, we’d likely see that by about now, all the letters would have been received…except for maybe some that got misdirected.

@mom2collegekids, I tried to find specific threads that addressed the span of mailings received, but didn’t have much luck. If mailings went out Thurs, Fri and Monday was a holiday, perhaps some mailings also went out on Tuesday? I have no idea how manual their process is, obviously. But Tuesday is conceivable in my mind (though I hate to say that), meaning it’s possible for letter delivery on Saturday. Of course, we haven’t had any letter posters for a couple of days. I wonder how many people even typically take the time to post about a rejection letter? I really appreciate those folks who took the time to do that, considering the circumstances. That was generous of them. Even a student posted, for the benefit of others, and I thought that was a Class Act. Student was from Kansas, I might add.

To show you how desperate I was getting, @GoAskDad, I found a post by the student in KS that you mentioned from awhile back and knew they had 6 Cs, so I thought he/she might get rejected. I PM’d him/her and tried to delicately ask if he/she had heard anything. I assume he/she saw my message and then posted in the forum when the letter came. It was hard because the guy/girl knew that their chances were low, but if they had made it, they wanted to go to the same college I’m planning on going to. Hopefully prospitfox didn’t mind me asking.

Based on the links provided by @mom2collegekids, I personally would feel very confident of “No Letter” after today’s mail delivery. And that’s highly conservative. So, unless you have a history of spotty mail delivery at your address - which we do, unfortunately - I really do think today is one of the very last possible days to see that letter. That’s only my opinion, based on what I’ve read, but it’s seems very reasonable.

Good luck to all those waiting today (specifically, all the C(s)-on-the-transcript people). Our mail always arrives late-day, so it will once again be a long wait in this house.

I’ll check periodically for updates. Hopefully my other “C-Peeps” will post updates, too.

All right then, one more day of mail. (Though we have at times had spotty delivery.) If for some reason we get a letter after tomorrow, I’m going to call NMS and ask for Jimmie, and explain the situation fully by saying @GoAskDad told me we were in the clear. I’m sure he’ll understand, .

@PAMom21, I have a feeling that by the end of this thread, our own NMSC Intern “Jimmie” will have morphed into an Urban Legend…

Where is the reference to “Jimmie”, and what exactly does it mean?
Waiting for two letters in CO!

@kmywest, we first learned of “Jimmie” in this thread (linked below), via a post by some Crazy Mom who has obviously lost her mind throughout the process of waiting…and hoping-against-hope for no mail:

Hey, I resemble that remark! ! No letter today in OH for our C-peep.

@SparkleMom97, that’s awesome news! So happy for you. Unless you have ongoing mail delivery issues, past threads (that I’ve scanned) would seem to indicate that a letter may not be on the horizon for your address!!

It’s such a long wait for our mail until day’s end. I will post when our mail arrives.

You know, I’d rather they just awarded it based on test scores, period. PSAT for semifinalist qualfiers, and then increase the cutoff score somewhat for the SAT score. That would eliminate this torture and somewhat arbitrary process they have today.

We passed the @GoAskDad Litmus Test!!! (Although our mailman has been known to put mail in the wrong boxes on occasion.)

Oh I hope so @GoAskDad‌ ! I am too old for this kind of stress, and kind of tired of my stomach hurting. Hoping for a peaceful week coming up and no more letters for any of us this week!

I won’t know until my dad gets the mail today, but I’m feeling pretty good!

Mailbox cleared. I don’t know which time period was reported so don’t know for sure if S has C’s.

No letter today, thank goodness, but not all my neighbors have reported-in yet, either. I will feel a bit better when I hear from all of them.

I seriously considered sending DH to the 2 addresses who frequently get our mail, but do not live nearby (we also get their mail). I thought he could ask about any mail recently received, because sometimes it takes them a couple of days to forward, as it does for us if we’re busy and the mail doesn’t look particularly important. (Things like property tax bills, we forward right away.) It’s not that I want that letter…I just really hope it doesn’t exist anywhere “out there.” The fact that our mail delivery is so unreliable is a weighing me down.

Didn’t do myself any favors by reading an older thread (2011) that indicated a longer delivery time-span for letters. And I consider the fact that we had no mail on Monday. It seems that NMSC historically mails letters a bit earlier than they seem to have done this year, but I may be wrong about that.

No mail tomorrow, so we all get a break.

On the upside, we haven’t had any rejection postings on CC for a couple of days (that I’ve seen), so that makes me hopeful that at least all letters have been mailed. I’m thinking of those who’re working on their appeal.

I just want to know for sure that I am a NMF. I agree with the posters on here that ask why couldn’t this be done via email. I mean, it is the 21st century. The scores are submitted electronically, the application is now submitted electronically, so why can’t the results be submitted electronically? Send a letter too if you want, but send an email prior to doing so.
