NMFs: Where are you going?

@greeninohio What is your son’s major?

While I don't put much stock in rankings, I would suggest looking at the Common Data set and decide if it fits your kid. Lots of kids in remedial classes and very low graduation rates, probably mostly because IS kids get free tuition for 7 semesters based on a fairly low HS GPA.

My concern is the upper quartile… It is an ACT 26+…low for a flagship

Only 6% have an ACT 30+ that is very low for a flagship.

@mom2collegekids, he is probably going to study Engineering…

I think schools like UCF and Alabama are ultimately going to be too far away…UK is about 4 hours from here and probably on the outer limit of distance. I faxed his NMF letter to UA and his application has been submitted for awhile…we will sit down and compare when we get the FA packages back. If he gets into ND or Chicago, we will probably visit them again if the COA is within reach.

Son has narrowed down to S.Carolina, Alabama and FSU. We have visited each once so far. He has been invited to interview at FSU for Presidential Scholars in a couple of weeks and we will be attending a Top Scholars Day at Bama. Not sure if we’ll visit USC again.

Well, after visiting Wichita State University, I am most certainly going there. Full ride over 4 years, aerospace engineering.

Only had eyes for Bama once DS knew they offered an NMF pkg. ROLL TIDE!
