Okay, so I think I did uber well today on the ACT; however, I realized halfway through the test that the pencils I had grabbed as I was running out the door this morning were No. 3 pencils instead of No. 2. Will this affect the grading of my test? I made sure to go over the marks really thickly after I finished each section. If the machine screws up because of the lead or something, could I ask for my test to be scored by hand?

If you made the marks nice and dark, it really should not matter.

^ probably, but it might cost you (in terms of $)

I'd call up the ACT people and ask :P

who knows? maybe even no. 3 pencils shouldn't be too much of a problem -- Idk! I don't know my pencils all that well lol

I remember in 6th grade or so taking an entire state proficiency test with #2.7 or something pencils.. I ended up doing fine, nothing came of it. Not sure if that's the case with the ACT too, but I'd assume so..

They make pencils that aren't No. 2??? LOL!

I thought they phased the others out a long time ago!

^ They're rare, but they're out there!

Yes of course. Drawing pencils and stuff have varying hardness

I used on no. 3 pencil on a Bio Subject Test, and let’s just say I got above a 750… So I don’t think it affects your score at all.

You can always get your test hand-scored if your scores are really low.

Edit: I guess I didn’t read johnson’s post too well. Yes, you can, but it costs like $20.00. Depending on how dark you normally make your marks, it may not matter.

Lol, I wonder how his test turned out from '08. He was probably freaking out for no reason. Old

I rarely pay attention to dates… That’s actually pretty funny.

I almost gave him advice too until I saw the date. Haha
